My have things shifted....

...I was talking to my dear friend Tangie, who shares the same passion for baking as me. I had to call her this evening just to tell someone how great it felt to come home and bake cookies until almost bedtime. I've been so busy trying to get the boutique stablized, that baking has been more of a chore and not a joy. I really had a moment in my empty kitchen today...(yes, it's empty because I've moved most of the furniture to the boutique for starters, but anyway)...it was wonderful. I stood out on my deck waiting on each batch to bake just thinking how great it makes me feel to be in the kitchen creating something. The thing is, I only get this feeling when I get to bake without having obligations to fulfill afterwards. I've always tried to make baking the last thing that I do in the evenings, but it's hard when your juggling multiple obligations, and not to mention how exhausing baking can be of done for prolonged periods of time.

Now that things are settling down, I'm getting back in the kitchen! I have many confections and dishes that I am eager to experiment with, but I just have not taken the time to write them down...I'm going to do that!

I was able to finally get the orange cake off of my mind that I had been ranting about for weeks by making orange flavored mini cupcakes for the Spring Fashion Mixer. I received really positive feedback, and I was pleased since I shot from the hip with the recipe (smile). Now I have to get this banana and chocolate off of my brain! I think I may take a shot at a recipe and actually try these out at home before subjecting the public to another one of my experimental creations. If they come out the way that I hope, I'll debut these at the opening of the boutique.  Either way...I'm mixing banana, chocolate and chocolate Godiva liqueur and MAKING MY FAT SOUL HAPPY!

GOOD NIGHT!

Amazing Dessert!

I have to tell you about the most amazing looking dessert I've ever had in my life! It came from the historic Brown Hotel in Louisville, KY. I cannot remember the proper name of it but it was something like a white chocolate mousse cake...but anyway, the presentation was just AWESOME!!!! After the waitress brought it out, I thought it looked amazing just the way it was but then the waitress too a lighter to the inside of the large piece of shaved chocolate that was atop the cake! After watching it for a few seconds, it dawned on me that the topping for my cake was melting right in front of my eyes!!!! It was great!

Where is she??????????

I know you're like...WHERE IN THE WORLD IS MS. HASTY PASTRY!??? Well I'll tell you...RIGHT HERE (SMILING)!!!! I'm working on another venture (http://aclassycloset.blogspot.com) all the while keeping the oven hot! It's been COOKIE CENTRAL over here since I returned from New York.

I forgot to tell you all that I was introduced to the owner of Cake Joy in Brooklyn and visit her pastry shop! It is sooooooooooo cute! (She's really nice too). So if you're ever in NYC and go to Brookly for any reason, make a stop at Cake Joy and try one of their delectable treats!

I hope to have an event soon where I can invite everyone out to sample what Hasty Pastry is really all about. I have followers who have never placed an order or sampled any of our pastries...and that's OKAY!...but I want to change that! If you support me, you should know the quality of goods that you are supporting and vouching for (wink)! Anyway, I said all of that to say that I hope Hasty Pastry gets to treat you to something sweet very soon! Meanwhile, I'll be coming up with some creative ways use orange flavors and spices....I'm on an orange kick for the spring!
